The Diva: Bobbi Brown Haul
Early on in my makeup journey, I came across one of Bobbi Brown’s book and fell in love with her make up philosophy and techniques.

Basically, she originated the ‘natural look’ or the ‘no make-up’ makeup look, and she even created her own line of makeup just to achieve this look. The end result is this foundation range that is full-coverage but very natural looking. Further, as Bobbi Brown is a makeup artist for celebrities, her foundation needs to photograph well, without any bounce from the harsh studio lights or the camera flash. I bought into the whole aesthetic.
She was also a huge advocate of using your fingers to apply foundation, the heat from your fingers help melt the oils in the foundation. I loved that and tried to emulate it. Of course, as Bobbi Brown advocated, clean fingers and hands are a must.
Because of Bobbi Brown, I have always had an obsession with foundations and concealers. I was in constant search of the perfect foundation. While Bobbi Brown Cosmetics were difficult to find in the Philippines during my time, i tried to emulate her whole aesthetic by buying three shades of foundation sticks to add contour, highlight and my actual foundation shade. I have always been obsessed with this combo. Before I had access to Bobbi Brown cosmetics, I have been trying to achieve the effect using local cream foundations with good coverage.
Back in 2016, I had the opportunity to fly to New York for work and leisure, and I had the perfect opportunity to pick up a Bobbi Brown foundation without feeling guilty of its cost. I told the sales attendant in Bobbi Brown that I needed a foundation to take to my trip. I mentioned that I would need something that photographs well, as I would be taking tons of photos for my New York trip. Who knew when I would be back to New York? I needed to make the most out of it in photographs! The sales attendant suggested the liquid foundation, and so that’s what I bought.
And boy, oh boy, did Bobbi Brown deliver! I was super happy with the results!

I could not be any happier with my New York photos! My skin looked flawless, with barely-there makeup! Bobbi Brown sure knows her stuff!
My Bobbi Brown foundation gave its very last drop a few months ago, and I have planned to repurchase the same, but I kept putting it off because of the Pandemic. However, I think god rewards those who wait because my cousin is friends with a Bobbi Brown sales attendant and just out of the blue, I was informed that Bobbi Brown was holding a massive sale. Most items were 30-70% off! I quickly bought the things I wanted!

Here is my humble haul, which consists of just the liquid foundation and three foundation sticks.

But the sales attendant generously gave me some freebies along with my stuff and boy, was I one happy kid!
What I’m here to discuss though is the foundation sticks.

I bought three shades, one in my natural shade, one in a very light shade and one in a very dark shade, and this is for foundation, highlight and contour.
There you have it, my Bobbi Brown Haul.
Stay tuned for my next post, where I explain how I use the foundation sticks.
Til then,
