I have been wanting to get an electric slow cooker for a while now.
I got the recipe online somewhere. To be honest, I don’t keep measurements (Sorry!), but I will try my best to give you the most accurate description. If you are interested below are the recipes and cooking instructions

Over the weekend, I finally did! The first recipe I made is beef stroganoff paired with egg noodles.

Ingredients:
- Beef – the one for stew, cut in big cubes; about a kilo
- Butter – to be used to sauté; 4-6 tablespoons (?)
- Yellow Onions – chopped; 1 big onion or 2 small ones per kilo of beef
- Garlic – chopped; 2 heads per kilo of beef
- Fresh mushrooms – sliced; 1 package per kilo of beef
- Chicken cubes – 1.5 cups of water per cube; 2 cubes per kilo of beef
- Worcestershire Sauce; 5tbsp per kilo
- Salt and pepper to taste.
- Sour Cream; 1.5 cups per kilo of beef
- Cream cheese; 1 cup per kilo of beef
- Cornstarch dissolved in hot water
- Egg Noodles cooked to package instructions*
- Parsley – chopped; for toppings
- Parmesan – grated; for toppings
- Chili Garlic Oil – for toppings
* since I live alone, I didn’t want to cook a big batch of noodles at once; i substituted this to instant ramen noodles which I prepare every time I would eat.
Tools/Cooking utensils
- Electric chopper
- Chopping board
- Knife
- Skillet
- Rubber spatula
- Measuring cups and spoons
- Slow cooker
- Pot
- Strainer
- Grater
Cooking instructions:
- Pre-heat the skillet, and melt several tablespoons of butter. Add beef and brown the beef in the skillet. While browning the beef, prep the veggies
- Use chopping board and knife to peel onions and rough chop to manageable pieces. If you have an electric chopper, you can use this to continue chopping the onions finely, otherwise use knife to chop finely; set aside. Be mindful of the beef you are browning.
- Peel garlic and feed to electric chopper, if available. Otherwise, fine chop manually; set aside. Be mindful of the beef you are browning
- Slice the mushrooms; set aside. Be mindful of the beef you are browning.
- At this point your beef should be nice and brown on all sides. Transfer beef to slow cooker.
- in the same skillet used to brown the beef, add the remaining butter until melted. Add onions and sauté until translucent.
- Once onion is translucent, add the garlic and sauté with the onion. Then add the mushrooms until brown. Add chicken cubes and sauté with the veggies. Once chicken cubes are fully incorporated in the mixture, add the water and deglaze the skillet.
- Transfer the veggies and mushrooms to the slow cooker. Add Worcestershire sauce. Add salt and pepper to taste.
- slow cook on low for 6–8 hours, or on high for 3-4 hours. The longer, the better.
- after 6-8 hours or 4-3 hours, start preparing the noodles (in my case instant ramen) to packet instructions. Strain the noodles but save about a cup of water. Set aside the noodles.
- Dissolve about 2 tablespoons of cornstarch in the noodles water and add to the slow cooker. Slow cook on low for 30 minutes or 15 minutes on high, or until desired thickness is achieved.
- Turn slow cooker on warm and stir in the cream cheese and sour cream until incorporated.
- Add noodles* and serve with chopped parsley, grated parmesan and a drizzle of chili garlic oil.
- Enjoy
* as I mentioned, rather than cook a big batch of noodles, I cook a packet of instant ramen every time I want to eat. This allows me to have freshly cooked noodles all the time. I normally cook the instant ramen until pliable (i undercook it) and strain some of the water but leave about 3-4 tablespoons in. This will help thin the sauce of the beef stroganoff as the sauce would have thickened more once cooled. Off fire but still in the same pot, i stir in the beef stroganoff, sauce, beef and all. Note that the noodles are still cooking from the residual heat so it is best to undercook the ramen noodles.
Let me know if you want the recipe of my home made chili garlic oil.
Oh my gosh, I am salivating just thinking about this dish! Do you own a slow cooker? Do you want more slow cooker recipes? Or do you have slow cooker recipes to share? I’d love to know! Hit me up below, until then,
